SAP BASIS Consultant

Our Finance leverages the SAP platform for its General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Fixed Assets and Consolidation global and local solutions. They form the center of the financial systems architecture.

We are seeking a highly skilled SAP BASIS Consultant to join our team in Montreal. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the administration, configuration and maintenance of our SAP Environment. You will play a crucial role in ensuring the stability, performance and security of our SAP Systems. This position requires a pro-active and detailed oriented individual with excellent problem solving skills and the ability to work effectively in collaborative team environment.

Candidates for this role will likely have a minimum 5 years of experience with SAP Basis. The candidate will be expected to be technical and hands on; when necessary, they would help resolve issues escalated by the production support team. The candidate should be able to investigate any performance problems that occur within the system.

The SAP Basis Consultant is responsible for software upgrades, technical administration, tuning, and monitoring of the SAP software and database. The person will be working with functional and development support groups to maintain the SAP systems. This position will also require extensive interfacing with other internal teams such as Unix and Database operations, as well as interaction with the vendor in order to report, troubleshoot and implement corrections. The person will be responsible for the planning and execution of all infrastructure activities required to support the SAP landscape. The candidate should have the ability to work independently and multitask to meet critical deadlines in a rapidly changing environment with minimal direction and guidance.

An ability to work across locations would be required.Key Responsibilities:
– Install, Configure, and Maintain SAP Systems: Oversee the installation, configuration, and maintenance of various SAP systems, including ECC, BPC, GRC, SOLMAN and other related modules.
– System Monitoring and Performance Tuning: Monitor the performance of SAP systems, identify potential issues, and perform tuning and optimization to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
– User Administration and Security Management: Manage SAP user accounts, roles, and authorizations to ensure secure and efficient access to SAP systems.
– Backup and Disaster Recovery Planning: Conduct regular system backups and develop disaster recovery plans to safeguard critical data and ensure business continuity.
– Patch Management and Upgrades: Apply SAP patches, updates, and upgrades to maintain system stability and security. Collaborate with functional teams to plan and execute system upgrades and migrations.
– Troubleshooting and Issue Resolution: Diagnose and resolve technical issues related to SAP systems. Provide technical support and guidance to end-users and functional teams.
– Transport Management: Implement and manage the SAP transport management system (TMS) to facilitate the migration of development objects across different environments.
– SAP Process Chain: Demonstrate a good understanding of SAP process chains, including the design, implementation, troubleshooting, and optimization of process chains to ensure smooth and efficient workflows.
– DB2 Administration: Perform administration, configuration, and maintenance of DB2 databases to support SAP Environments. Monitor DB2 performance and conduct tuning to optimize database operations.

– Compliance and Best Practices: Ensure compliance with SAP best practices, security standards, and regulatory requirements. Stay updated with the latest SAP technologies and industry trends.

Good-to-Have Skills:
• ABAP Development: Knowledge of ABAP development to support customizations and enhancements in SAP systems.
• Python Development: Experience with Python programming language to support integration and automation tasks.
• Snowflake Data Warehousing: Familiarity with Snowflake data warehousing solutions and data modeling.
• ETL Processes and Tools: Experience with ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes and tools to facilitate data integration and transformation.
• SDLC: Understanding of SDLC processes to ensure the successful development, deployment, and maintenance of software applications.
• DevOps Practices: Knowledge of DevOps practices and tools to streamline software development and operations, ensuring continuous integration and delivery.

Qualifications:
• Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Professional Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience as an SAP Basis Consultant with a proven track record of managing SAP environments, emphasizing project implementation.
• Technical Expertise: Strong knowledge of SAP system architecture, administration, and performance tuning. Proficiency in SAP Basis-related tools and technologies.
• Analytical Skills: Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills to diagnose and resolve technical issues effectively.
• Communication and Collaboration: Strong communication and teamwork abilities to collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
• Certifications: Certification in SAP Basis or related modules is a plus.
