Process Maintenance Technician
Job Description
Position Overview:
The ideal candidate will have in-depth knowledge of hydraulics, belt systems, motors, and other industrial machine mechanisms essential for job procedures. Must be a team player with strong attention to detail. In this position, you should also be able to make decisions, troubleshoot, and perform repairs with little to no supervision. This position is responsible for performing emergency and routine maintenance on all manufacturing equipment, including equipment changeovers, and assisting production personnel as necessary to minimize downtime. Millworks are responsible for the installation and repair of electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems and ensuring that equipment is maintained in top working condition through troubleshooting, repair, and preventative maintenance. This includes diagnosing and repairing faulty electrical components of machines such as motors, AC/DC drives, and sensors as well as Automation controls, such as PLC IO.
II. Specific Tasks, Duties and Responsibilities:
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
• Perform basic PMs, mechanical maintenance, repairs across the site, and assist small scale process improvement projects.
• Build the foundation for machines, grind, and file machinery parts.
• Construct and install equipment such as shafting, conveyors and tram rails.
• Review and interpret engineering specifications, schematics, and blueprints to determine work procedures.
• Transfer equipment to the applicable site for maintenance to avoid contamination or safety hazards.
• Work with a range of hand tools including measuring tools, welding, and brazing equipment.
• Help maintain good housekeeping in mechanical and facility areas.
• Troubleshooting of various types of mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic systems such as Allen Bradley PLC’s, VFD’s, Conveyors, Motors, and Pumps, AC and DC Circuits from 24vDC to 480vAC.
• Assists Plant staff with adjustments and changeovers of Plant machinery as needed.
• Promptly reports to plant leadership all serious equipment malfunctions, and suggested course of action.
• Maintains cleanliness and upkeep of repair shop, maintenance office, and storage areas including all equipment, tools, supplies, and materials.
• Observe and follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), Food Safety Plan (HACCP) and Food Quality Plan (FQP.)
• Take responsibility for producing high quality products in each step of production.
• Participation in all necessary training is required to successfully perform job responsibilities.
• Experience with Volpak, Acma, Euromec, Confitech highly preferred.
• Advanced Machine Shop Tools
III. Essential Skills and Experience:
Education or Equivalent: (Minimum required to perform job)
• A minimum of 2 to 5 years’ experience as a Maintenance Technician or similar job.
• Associate degree with 2+ years of relevant experience or High School Diploma and 5+ years of relevant experience or technical/vocational training.
• Background in industrial maintenance or in the food industry is required.
Knowledge/Skills Requirements: (List unique knowledge skills, or problem-solving requirements)
• Effective communication skills, strong attention to detail, mechanical aptitude, and problem-solving capability.
• Must be able to work well in a team environment.
• Ability to troubleshoot various types of equipment.
• Looking for combination of hands-on experience with current machinery or similar.
• Knowledge of basic computer programs and ability to learn new programs.
Job Qualifications:
Minimum Requirements:
• High school diploma or equivalent. May substitute equivalent years of pharmaceutical manufacturing supervisory experience for education.
• 2 years of pharmaceutical manufacturing experience (or applicable experience in a cGMP environment).
• Must have a thorough knowledge of the equipment and processes used in the facility and within the pharmaceutical industry or equivalent manufacturing experience.
• Must have a thorough knowledge of cGMP, FDA and DEA guidelines and how to apply them effectively.
• Thorough knowledge of Solid Dosage manufacturing preferred.
• Excellent computer skills.
• Able to manage priorities and projects prioritizing effectively. Must communicate clearly, and manage people well.
• Capability to work in a matrix organization.
• Must be able to wear safety glasses, or specified eye protection, in all designated areas
• Must be able to follow any applicable plant safety requirements
• Must be fit-tested, trained and capable of wearing air purifying respirator
• Must be trained in plant hazardous material procedures
• Must be able to use approved fall prevention devices when performing elevated tasks
• Must be capable of wearing steel-toed safety shoes for 8 to 12 hours a day, depending on duration of the shift
